Board of Health Chair

As the Chair of the Board of Health, I want to begin by expressing my sincere thanks. To my fellow Board members: your steady governance, thoughtful questions, and willingness to weigh complex risks have helped guide the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) through a year of impressive work. Your diverse perspectives strengthened our decisions and kept our focus where it belongs: on the health and well-being of the residents of Windsor-Essex County.

I am equally grateful for the dedication of our exceptional staff with the guidance of our Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive Officer. Additionally, thank you to our leadership and management teams for leading with clarity and integrity as the organization remained highly responsive to emerging issues while continuing the essential day-to-day operations. Together with our community partners, we continue to build a local health system that is collaborative, accessible, and responsive.

Most of all, thank you to every WECHU staff member. Your professionalism, expertise, and compassion, whether in health promotion, health protection, operations, or communications, make public health visible in the moments that matter and reliable in the work that happens behind the scenes. Because of you, our community benefits from programs and services that are evidence-based, equitable, and grounded in service.

As we look ahead, the Board remains committed to championing the resources, partnerships, and innovative strategies needed to reduce health disparities and strengthen resilience across Windsor-Essex. Thank you for your trust, support, and hard work. Together we will continue working toward the vision of healthy people in a healthy community.
