Falls are a serious issue for older adults. In Windsor and Essex County, falls have been identified as the leading cause of injury. One of the many strategies to address this problem is to increase awareness and education around fall prevention strategies. November is Fall Prevention Month. It is a public awareness campaign, with the theme “It takes a community to prevent a fall: We all have a role to play.” When someone has a fall, it affects that individual, their family, the community, and the health care system. The WECHU is a member of the Windsor-Essex County Fall Prevention Committee (WECFPC). The WECFPC is reaching out to the community to raise awareness, provide education, and highlight community resources and services around fall prevention.
