The following statement can be attributed to Dr. Mehdi Aloosh, the Medical Officer of Health for the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU):
Every year the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit receives reports about animal bites and scratching incidents to people. In fact, in 2024, there were 1,064 cases reported to the health unit that involved both domestic and wild animals. The health unit follows up on all reported cases to ensure the person who was bit or scratched is not at risk of getting rabies.
There are many ways to bond with your baby while feeding. Hold your baby close, look into their eyes, or softly talk or sing to them. Enjoy your time together.
At a media event in the Municipality of Leamington this morning, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit’s (WECHU) Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Mehdi Aloosh shared information on the increasing cases of measles within the region and steps that residents can take to keep safe ahead of the coming holiday weekend.
