The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is proud to announce funding for their office improvement project, which will bring better access to services for residents across Windsor-Essex County.
With $1.1 million in provincial funding supporting the project, renovations are underway and improvements are planned to enhance client experience at the Windsor office location. The project is focused on making the office more accessible for both clients and staff. This includes layout changes to reduce barriers to access and easier movement through the building by moving client-facing programs to the first and second floors.
The Health Unit will also improve how its spaces are used. New layouts will help services run more smoothly, reduce wait times, and make it easier for residents to access the programs they need quickly. In addition, safety and workplace improvements will create welcoming, professional environments that reflect the important role of public health in the community. Specifically, through the one-time funding, upgrades have supported improved access to services such as immunizations and dental care for children and seniors.
Per WECHU Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ken Blanchette, “With this provincial government support, we have been able to address some long-standing challenges and support enhanced operations and efficiencies for years to come. We look forward to ongoing advocacy to continue bringing top tier public health services to residents of Windsor-Essex.”
The WECHU continues to work towards the vision of safe, accessible public health spaces to support a community where everyone can thrive.
