The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will begin the beach water quality testing of 10 local beaches in Windsor-Essex County on Wednesday June 8th, 2016.
The Health Unit will be visiting Sand Point Beach, West Belle River Beach, Hillman Beach, North West Beach at Point Pelee, Seacliff Park Beach, Mettawas Beach, Cedar Island Beach, Cedar Beach, Colchester Beach and Holiday Beach.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will begin tick dragging at 3 local areas in Windsor-Essex County on Wednesday May 18, 2016.Tick dragging is an active surveillance method used in Ontario and consists of dragging a white flannel cloth over and around areas where ticks may be present. Ticks collected during the drag are sent away to labs for identification and testing.
On Friday, May 29, 2015 Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Associated Medical Officer of Health (acting) for the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and GDG Environment will hold a media conference outdoors at Ojibway Prairie Park parking lot off of Matchette Road to announce the 2015 West Nile virus program.
