Provide regular marketing and communication updates to the Board of Health.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common virus that can infect both males and females. HPV is spread from person to person during intimate contact. There are many types of HPV, some of which can cause genital warts and cancer. Cancers caused by HPV are largely preventable.
In an effort to combat the rising trend of vaping among youth, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) launched the Break the Vape Challenge (PSA) video contest.
The purpose of this resource is to support schools in creating a healthy school environment by providing strategies, tips and tools that focus on a comprehensive approach to school health.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is investigating a local case of meningitis in a person under 18 years old. The aim of this media release is to assist individuals who may have been exposed to meningitis in recognizing early symptoms and obtaining preventative treatment.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has worked with a panel of youth judges to complete three rounds of youth voting, narrowing down the almost 100 Break the Vape PSA video submissions.
The impact of household food insecurity on infant health is becoming increasingly apparent. Over the past few years, the Healthy Families department has observed several families struggle to afford adequate infant formula while experiencing breastfeeding challenges. The department’s multidisciplinary team works diligently to help clients optimize breastfeeding and improve access to infant formula, however, a collaborative strategy is urgently needed to address this public health issue at the population level.
