This report provides a status summary for Intervention Work Plans (IWP) in the 2024 Annual Service Plan that were in active and in progress during Q4 (October 1 through December 31).
The project lead for each active IWP was asked to provide a progress report on their work. The status updates for Q4 consisted of the following categories:
The end of January has many residents of Windsor and Essex County (WEC) turning their eyes to the brighter days ahead. The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is reminding residents that respiratory illness season is still here, seasonal illnesses are on the rise in the region, and there is still time to protect yourselves and those around you.

In the fall of 2024, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) completed a review of all student immunization records (65,633) and sent out 7,076 notices to elementary students and 4,785 notices to secondary students.
Based on Environment and Climate Change Canada’s forecast, Dr. Mehdi Aloosh, Windsor-Essex County Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a Cold Warning for Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21, 2025. A Cold Warning is issued when the temperature reaches -15°C (5°F) without the wind chill for a day.
If you live in the Town of Amherstburg and had previously obtained Potassium Iodide (KI) pills, they are expiring at the end of March 2025

Risk Description: The WECHU may be at risk of epidemiological, natural, and anthropogenic disasters or hazards.
Consequences: Service delivery to residents of Windsor-Essex County is negatively impacted. Ability to mount a hazard specific response is negatively affected. Organization's reputation is at risk. Infrastructure, resources, and/or financial loss.
