What is a Food Recall?

A food recall is issued when there’s reason to believe that a certain food could contain bacteria, harmful chemicals, or foreign matter. Your health could be seriously affected if you eat or drink these recalled products.

What is an Allergy Alert?

An allergy alert is issued when allergens are not properly labelled or shown on certain foods or drinks. If you have an allergy and eat or drink these products, you could have a severe allergic reaction.

Who Issues Food Recalls and Allergy Alerts?

Recalls and allergy alerts are issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), in consultation with Health Canada.
