In the fall of 2024, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) completed a review of all student immunization records (65,633) and sent out 7,076 notices to elementary students and 4,785 notices to secondary students.

Based on Environment and Climate Change Canada’s forecast, Dr. Mehdi Aloosh, Windsor-Essex County Health Unit’s Medical Officer of Health has issued a Cold Warning for Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21, 2025. A Cold Warning is issued when the temperature reaches -15°C (5°F) without the wind chill for a day.
