At last night’s meeting, Councillor Fabio Costante was elected as the new chair of the region’s Board of Health. As a returning member and City of Windsor Ward 2 Councillor, Costante brings experience and expertise to a board of health which welcomes several new members.
Joining Costante on the Board of Health Executive Committee is returning member and Deputy Mayor of the Town of Tecumseh, Joe Bachetti in the role of vice-chair and County of Essex Warden and Mayor of The Municipality of Leamington, Hilda Macdonald as Treasurer. On the new role, Costante said, “It is certainly an honor to be nominated and elected as Chair. I look forward to working with the members of the Board of Health, our CEO, Medical Officer of Health, and our Senior Management Team.”
Dr. Ken Blanchette, the CEO of the Windsor-Essex County Health unit welcomed Costante to the position, “We are very happy to have Fabio in the position of Board of Health Chair. We value his perspective and leadership as we enter an era of new opportunities and partnerships, and we know he will represent us well.”
