This is the third year of the pandemic and COVID-19 has affected every person, family, business and organization. It’s clear that COVID-19 is not going to be eradicated in the near future, and our community will have to learn to “live” with this novel infectious disease. The plan for the community, moving forward, has to be realistic, based on what we know and have learned so far.

The health unit and partners are relocating the mass vaccination site currently located at Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Centre in Leamington with the final doses being administered at this site on Saturday, February 5th.

On December 18, 2021, the Ontario Ministry of Health put in place recommendations to preserve the limited availability of the Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty) vaccine to only those who were identified for a preferential dose of the vaccine (i.e., those between 12-29 years of age).

Joining other local leaders like the University, College, City of Windsor, and County of Essex, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has implemented a vaccination policy for its staff to ensure workforce availability and protect clients amidst the pandemic’s fourth wave.
