The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is proud to have entered a multi-faceted memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the University of Windsor (UW) in 2022 to better serve the public health needs of Windsor-Essex County.
The programs and services provided to the public by the WECHU are listed as Program Standards under the OPHS.
To understand our planned services and budget, it is imperative to understand the needs of the community in Windsor and Essex County (WEC) including the public health challenges we face and attempt to address with finite financial and human resources.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is a publicly funded organization; as such the WECHU has a responsibility to spend funds prudently with the objective of providing public health programs and services as required by the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) and the Ontario Public Health Standards: Requirements for Programs, Services, and Accountability (OPHS).
2024 quarterly report, a budget-to-actual variance analysis is prepared for the BOH to supplement the quarterly reporting requirements to both the MOH and MCCSS.

In 2005, the Ontario Government passed the Accessibility for Ontarian with Disabilities Act (AODA), which requires that Ontario be an accessible province by 2025.
The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) is provincial legislation created with the purpose of developing, implementing and enforcing accessibility related to goods, services, facilities, accommodation, employment, and buildings, on or before January 1, 2025.
