Immunization Of School Pupils Act (ISPA) FAQ
This document provides answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the ISPA enforcement process. Topics range from general immunization questions to information about immunization records and how to report immunizations to the Health Unit. School Administrators can refer to this document when answering ISPA-related questions from families. This document can also be printed and given to families as a resource. This resource is available in English and French.
Immunization Notice Letter
This is the first letter that parents and guardians received informing them that the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit had incomplete records of their child’s immunizations. This letter provided guidance to parents/guardians in order to avoid enforcement actions under the ISPA.
Suspension Order Letter
This letter was sent to parents requiring them to take action to update their elementary child’s immunization record.

Maladies Importantes sur le Plan de la Santé Publique
Pour contrôler la propagation des maladies transmissibles, il est essentiel de les signaler rapidement. Conformément au Règlement de l’Ontario 135/18 et aux modifications apportées à la Loi sur la protection et la promotion de la santé, vous devez signaler au médecin hygiéniste de la région tout cas soupçonné ou confirmé d’une des « maladie importante sur le plan de la santé publique » ci-dessous ou la présence de son agent étiologique.
Diseases of Public Health Significance (DOPHS)
As of May 1st, 2018, there are new mandatory reporting requirements. “Reportable Diseases” are now referred to as “Diseases of Public Health Significance”. As well, it is no longer required for clinicians to report malaria and yellow fever.
Mandatory Blood Testing Act
The Mandatory Blood Testing Act reduces the time it takes to get results of certain blood tests.
