Bivalent Booster Vaccine

The booster is to be given after the completion of the primary COVID-19 vaccination series is completed. The recommended interval for the booster is 6 months after a previous COVID-19 vaccine. The minimum interval from a previous COVID-19 vaccine dose is 3 months for the booster.

Following a COVID-19 infection, a minimum interval of three months (84 days) after symptom onset or positive test must have passed before a client can receive a booster dose.

As of Monday, October 17, 2022 at 8 a.m., anyone over 12 years of age who has completed their primary series is eligible for the bivalent booster.

Stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations by following the provincial recommended doses based on eligibility.

Where to get Vaccinated

  • Mask or face coverings are still required at most vaccination sites.
  • If you do not have an OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) card, you can still get a vaccine by presenting another form of a government issued-photo ID such as a driver’s license, passport, Status Card or other provincial health cards. You do not have to be a Canadian citizen to receive a vaccine if you are a current resident of Windsor-Essex.
  • Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by their custodial parent or guardian to receive a vaccine and will be required to present a health card or other form of identification.

  • If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been asked to self-isolate, you should not attend a vaccination site.
  • If you have had a COVID-19 infection, you must wait a minimum of three months from positive test or symptom onset before receiving a booster dose.

  • Visit the Government of Ontario website for what to expect when you get a COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Children aged 11 and under are not able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine within 14 days of other vaccines, such as the flu vaccine.
