Updates for WEC Health Care Providers (HCPs): Adult RSV Vaccine, Student Immunization Notices, and Vaccine Ordering

Publicly Funded Adult RSV Vaccine

Update:
  • Eligibility:
  • NACI recommends a single dose of RSV vaccine as protection lasts beyond one season.
  • Pharmacies do not administer publicly funded RSV vaccine.
Actions for HCPs:
  • Order RSV vaccine from the WECHU and immunize eligible clients.
  • Educate clients, display the attached flyer in client service areas, and refer clients to WECHU clinics as needed.
WECHU Clinics:
  • Available at the Windsor and Leamington offices and community sites.
  • Clinic dates are found in the Community Health Calendar.
  • Appointments can be made by calling 519-258-2146 ext. 1121.


Elementary and Secondary Student Immunization Notices

Update:
  • 8,500+ notices were sent to families with incomplete immunization records per the ISPA.
  • Deadline to update records with the WECHU: January 5, 2026.
  • Students with incomplete records risk school suspension in March 2026 for up to 20 days.
Actions for HCPs:
  • Review records for clients born 2008-2021 and administer missing vaccines.
  • Provide families with updated copies of records and remind them to report to the WECHU.
  • Display reporting poster in your client service areas.
  • Refer students in Grade 7 or above requiring meningococcal vaccine to the WECHU.
  • Review attached document with helpful reminders/resources.
WECHU Clinics:

Vaccine Ordering Reminders

Update:
  • Submitting the same vaccine order more than once delays processing and distribution.
  • Vaccines ordered and picked up in error cannot be returned.
Actions for HCPs:
  • Avoid duplicate vaccine orders.
  • For order status inquiries, contact a Vaccine Management nurse at 519-258-2146 ext. 1121 or vaccine@wechu.org.
