People who use public pools or spas expect a safe swimming environment. This Pool and Spa course will teach operators how to safely operate public pools and spas in order to prevent and reduce water-related illness and injury to the public.

Who should take the Pool and Spa Course?

The Pool and Spa Course is for:

  • Pool operators (for Class A and Class B pools)
  • Spa operators
  • Owners
  • Head lifeguards, head Instructors, aquatic supervisors, or coaches

Course information

The Pool and Spa Course is offered either as a three hour in-class instructor led course or an online e-learning course. The online course must be completed within 30 days of registration.

The in-person course is held once per year in June for a fee.  Course details will be posted online once the class has been scheduled, and can be viewed on our calendar.

Class size is limited to 25 students.

  • Public health legislation for public pools and spas
  • Health risks and pool safety
  • Pool maintenance (recirculation, filtration, disinfection, pool water chemistry, record keeping)
