SUBJECT: Strategic Plan Q3 Progress Report

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE

The WECHU’s 2022-2025 Refreshed Strategic Plan provides strategic direction to the organization. The plan defines the organizational vision, goals, and objectives to engage staff and support local public health outcomes within the community - with a specific focus on priority populations.

The Good Governance and Management Practices Domain of the Ontario Public Health Standards (2021) requires the Board of Health to provide governance direction and remain informed about the activities for organizational effectiveness through evaluation of the organization and strategic planning.

DISCUSSION

The WECHU is in the final year of the 2022-2025 plan. All current facets of the plan are on track to be completed or implemented by the end of 2025.

Highlights for Q3 2025 include:

  • Continued collaborations through the Primary Care Public Health Partnership Table to enhance coordination with primary care partners, alongside regular engagement with municipal CAOs on Board of Health resolutions and ongoing municipal support for public health priorities.
  • Implementation of the Priority Population Engagement Framework continues to advance. The 2SLGBTQI+ Youth Advisory Committee has finalized a set of co-developed interventions for implementation in 2026, while the Substance Use Peer Advisory Committee has been formed, oriented, and has begun meeting regularly.
  • The EDI Committee has reviewed the staff census recommendations and is developing plans and timelines to address them, prioritizing the most pressing while ensuring all are considered.
  • The Q2 indicator report was finalized and shared with the Leadership Team. Departments are reviewing data in depth to assess program performance and identify opportunities to strengthen effectiveness and outcomes.
