What is the purpose of the “Take the Fight out of Food – Nutrition 2017” Challenge?
The “Take the fight Out of Food – Nutrition Month 2017” Challenge is designed to support individuals to be more informed by offering strategies to solve nutrition questions and concerns. The Challenge uses a three-step approach to help you identify nutrition questions or issues, find reliable information, and take steps to solve them. This will help you build confidence when reading about nutrition and health information, so you can figure out what information can be trusted and applied to improve your nutrition habits over the long-term.
Who can participate in the “Take the Fight out of Food – Nutrition Month 2017” Challenge?
In order to participate in the Challenge:
- Be a Windsor-Essex County resident, 18 years or older and have signed up for the Challenge.
- Register for the Challenge by March 6th, 2017. If you miss the deadline, you can still register – but you will reduce your chance of completing all of the weekly Challenges as well as the odds that you will be one of the prize winners.
- Be interested in improving your overall health and well-being.
What if I join the Challenge late? Can I still participate in the whole Challenge?
You can participate in the Challenge for the week you join until the end of the Challenge. For example, if you join on Wednesday of the second week of the Challenge, you can complete week two, three, four, and five, but you won’t have enough time to complete week one and be considered for the prizes. To be effective, the Challenge is designed to feature one topic per week for a period of five weeks. Therefore, joining late will not allow you enough time to participate in all the Challenges in the five-week period. No worries though; participating in even one week of this Challenge can help you make an important step in the right direction when it comes to improving your nutrition habits.
Is my participation in the “Take the Fight out of Food – Nutrition Month 2017” Challenge confidential?
Yes, the information entered during the registration process and thereafter will be kept confidential. However, to be eligible to win prizes, your name and email address is required so that you can be contacted in the case that you are a winner.
Why am I not receiving e-mails after registering?
Sometimes emails automatically go into your junk mail folder. To view these emails you must first move them into your inbox before reading them. If you don’t get an email right away, don’t worry. These emails may take a short while to receive. Check back within an hour.
What are the Challenge Milestones?
The Challenge Milestones are the questions you will be asked to answer during the Challenge. This is a way for you to track your progress. For the “Take the Fight out of Food – Nutrition Month 2017” Challenge, you will be required to complete two Challenge Milestones per week, with an optional Wednesday Trivia question that you can also participate in. The Monday Milestone will allow you to accept the challenge and the Friday Milestone will help you reflect on your experience.
The more Challenge Milestones you complete the more chances you will have to win a prize! The weekly Challenge Milestones can be found at the bottom of the main page.
By participating in the Weekly Trivia question, you will also receive a chance to win a prize for each week you submit the correct answer.
What if I accept a weekly Challenge but miss completing a Challenge Milestone? Can I go back and complete it later?
If you are unable to complete the Challenge Milestones on one of the required days, it’s not a problem. You can always scroll down to the bottom of the page, click on the date you missed on the calendar. This will take you back to the Milestone for the day you missed and you can then fill it out and submit it. However, if you complete your Milestone after the week has ended, you will not be eligible for the weekly prize.
