Outbreak Type
Symptoms
**Not related to the virus which causes influenza.
Runny nose, sore throat, mild to moderate fever.
Mode of Transmission
Direct person-to-person by droplet/ contact through coughing/sneezing or secretions on hands.
Indirect contact by exposure to contaminated respiratory secretions on articles/environmental surfaces.
Incubation
2 to 6 days.
Period of Communicability
Up to 10 days.
Diagnosis
Nasopharyngeal swab (virus testing).
Precautions
Droplet/Contact Precautions - hand hygiene, gloves, gown, protective eyewear, mask
