What is Dress Purple Day?

Dress Purple Day is led by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies.

It shines a light on how communities can work together to support children, youth, and families. It also gives students a chance to learn about their right to be safe and cared for, and to know that help is available if they need it. This year, Dress Purple Day is October 16th, 2025.

Why Involve Students in Dress Purple Day?

On Dress Purple Day, people across Ontario wear purple to show their support for children’s safety and well-being. Research shows that having a trusted adult makes a big difference in keeping kids safe. Educators and school staff are often that trusted adult because they see students every day.

Every child and youth deserves the chance to learn the skills and knowledge they need to stay safe and healthy - in school, at home, and in the community.

How can your school get involved?

In October, schools can use free resources from the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies to talk with students about safety, well-being, and building a support network. Resources are available for elementary, middle, and secondary schools and include:
