Challenge yourself and your family to ditch the screens and eat together!

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is hosting a 6-week online challenge to help families put away the screens and enjoy meal times together as a family. Windsor and Essex County parents and caregivers, 18 years of age and older, will learn about the importance of screen-free meals, and how they can play a key role in having screen-free meals in their homes. Those who participate in the 6-week challenge will have a chance to win weekly prizes as well as a $200 grand prize gift card to Adventure Bay!

The online ‘Screen-Free Meal Time Challenge’ provides strategies on how to put the screen away during meal times, as well as how to get the whole family in the kitchen to help prepare, and clean-up, after a meal. Meals enjoyed as a family have physical, mental, and emotional benefits. Screen-free meals can help children, parents, and caregivers eat more vegetables and fruit and drink fewer sugar-sweetened beverages, as well as promote mindful eating.

The challenge runs from September 24 to November 2, 2018, but registration is now open. To register, please visit the Health Unit website or call the Health Unit at 519-258-2146 ext. 3200.
