On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and the Working Toward Wellness Committee will host the ‘Working Toward Wellness Luncheon’ from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Caboto Club. The topic for this year’s event is Managing Opioids in the Workplace: What Employers Need to Know, featuring guest speaker Gillian Stager, Health Promotion Specialist with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. This presentation will describe the Windsor Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy, a community driven action plan that seeks to address substance use, strategies on how to create a safer and healthier workplace and local resources on where to get help for substance use dependence.

The Luncheon is intended for individuals who promote and influence employee wellbeing within the workplace. Those who plan to attend must pre-register. The cost for this event is $35 and includes a Meet Smart Lunch.

This event is an important part of the Health Unit’s Working Toward Wellness partnership, providing workplace wellness representatives with the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals to learn about programs and activities that can be implemented within their own workplace. 

This year’s event will include a number of wellness booths hosted by community partners who provide programs, services, resources and linkages that support employers in offering comprehensive workplace wellness programs.
