Today, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is launching WECHU Water, a web-based map tool designed to help you and your family access drinking water and water facilities in the region. WECHU water links you to all types of water sources, including water fountains and water stations, splash pads, swimming pools, and beaches. It is a one-stop app to find the water information you’ll need – address, opening hours, website, and inspection reports so you can make an informed decision about where to have fun this summer.

Physical activity, hydration, sun safety, water safety, and environmental sustainability are important topics to consider while enjoying the summer months. This web-based tool aims to make it easier for people to plan for and engage in recreational water or other outdoor activities in Windsor and Essex County. Additionally, it provides useful tips and strategies for staying hydrated and sun safe while enjoying splash pads and beaches throughout the summer!

Ways you can use WECHU Water:

  • Want to spend the afternoon at the beach? Use WECHU Water to see at a glance where the beaches are and to access the beach water quality monitoring results!
  • Hiking or cycling on trails this summer with friends and family? Use WECHU Water to find water fountains to fill up your water bottle along the way!
  • Going to a splash pad with the little ones? Use WECHU Water to find the address and opening hours of the splash pad and check out the water safety inspection report.
  • Know a drinking water station that we’ve missed? Reach out to us to help update and expand the tool!

WECHU Water is both mobile and desktop computer friendly, meaning you can seamlessly access the tool online from your smartphone, tablet, and computer. Check out and plan your local summer activities today!
