For Immediate Release
Wednesday, June 30, 2021 | 10:30 a.m. | Windsor and Essex County

With the continued decline in cases of COVID-19 in the region and the increase in the number of residents fully vaccinated, the WECHU is modifying its communications. Moving forward, COVID-19 case counts and statistics will only be updated on the website and sent by email on weekdays, Monday to Friday. Updates will not occur on weekends or holidays, including Canada Day this Thursday.

This morning’s YouTube Live broadcast at 9:30 a.m. was Theresa Marentette’s last briefing as CEO with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. We wish her all the best in her retirement.

Dr. Ahmed will provide his weekly epidemiological summary this Friday, July 2nd at 9:30am. Starting next week, the YouTube Live briefings with Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed will only occur on Fridays at 9:30 a.m., where he will continue to provide a weekly epidemiological summary presentation of COVID-19 activity in Windsor and Essex County. Live streams will not occur on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. moving forward.

A friendly reminder that the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit offices will be closed to the public on Thursday, July 1 for Canada Day. Vaccination clinics scheduled to be open will be operational.
