The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reminding the community that although the High School Student Suspension date of March 29 was cancelled due to the current labour disruption, it is important that we all continue to keep our immunization records up-to-date.

It is important to note that health care providers are not required to report child immunization information to the Health Unit. That responsibility rests with parents and guardians. To help streamline the process, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care launched on online tool called “Immunization Connect Ontario” (ICON) last year that provides our community with the ability to access their immunization information and update their record securely online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at immune.wechu.org. The website is also mobile-friendly.

Parents can also update a child’s immunization record by calling 519-258-2146 extension 1222 or faxing the immunization record 519-258-7288.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will continue its important work in the prevention and management of infectious diseases during the current labour disruption and we continue to ask for our community’s patience and understanding. The health and wellbeing of our clients continues to be our top priority.
