Some individuals may experience greater difficulty in getting their COVID-19 vaccine due to potential barriers, including a lack of safe transportation, childcare services, or other accessibility needs. A variety of local support is available to  help residents  attend a vaccination clinic. 

All listed services are FREE for current residents of Windsor and Essex County.

Accessible Transportation Services

OCSA Individuals with Mobility Issues or Disabilities:

The Government of Ontario with the Ontario Community Support Association (OCSA) is providing free transportation to individuals with a physical disability or mobility issue, including seniors with mobility issues, and no access to safe transportation during COVID-19.

To be eligible, you must:

  • have a vaccine appointment booked for the date you are requesting transportation,
  • be a person with a disability, including physical, mental, developmental, learning, mobility, vision, or hearing impairment, and
  • have limited or no access to safe and accessible transportation or face barriers to getting to and from a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

CareLink Health Transit:

CareLink Health Transit under direction of Community Support Centre of Essex County is currently providing accessible transportation for ambulatory, wheelchair bound and stretcher bound residents of Windsor Essex County to vaccination sites. Residents must book in advance of their ride to ensure availability.

Language Services

Interpretation services are available at public health and pop-up vaccination sites in ALL languages.For community supports for language and interpretation, call 2-1-1.


Families who qualify can utilize free childcare service while they attend a pre-scheduled vaccination appointment.

The ‘Be Back Soon’ program run by Connections Early Years Family Centre, funded through Pathway to Potential, provides no-cost, unlicensed short-term childcare for qualifying parents with young children by Registered Early Childhood educators.

This program is also available to families living in “Hot Spot” postal code areas of N8X, N8Y, N9A, N9B, N9C, N8H, and N9Y. 

This childcare is provided at the Connections Early Years Family Centre (795 Giles Blvd E, Windsor, N9A 4E5).
