Registered Health Professionals are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm to provide free breastfeeding advice and individualized support.

Call the Healthy Families Hotline 519-258-2146 ext. 1350 to access the following services:

Infant Feeding Assessment and Phone Support:  A Registered Nurse, with advanced breastfeeding training, can help parents identify and overcome common infant feeding challenges over the phone. Clients are referred to one of the Health Unit’s certified Lactation Consultants for on-going support, if needed.

Lactation Consultant Support: Certified Lactations Consultants are available to provide more specialized support and on-going care. Individualized consultation is provided via phone or virtual consultation. In-home support is also offered, if needed. Direct referrals to this service are accepted from community physicians and nurse practitioners.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes: Certified Lactations Consultants offer 2-hour virtual classes at least monthly for expecting parents. The class is designed to build parents’ confidence in initiating breastfeeding, identifying and addressing common feeding challenges, and securing specialized support, if needed.
