Garbage Disposal Options for Windsor Residents

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit continues to monitor the City of Windsor garbage disposal situation during the CUPE work stoppage. Health Unit staff investigate and assess complaints related to garbage that may cause a hazard to the public’s health.

It is the responsibility of property owners to maintain their property throughout the work stoppage. All residents should either store their garbage in an appropriate manner or take it to one of the available disposal facilities. Friends, families, and/or neighbours of elderly residents, persons with disabilities, and individuals without personal transportation are encouraged to offer their assistance. Complaints may be directed to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit at 519-258-2146 ext. 1473.

The City of Windsor has opened two public sites that allow disposal at no cost, and three private sites that will charge a fee for garbage drop-off.
