Food Handler Certification
For all food service providers and people who work with food.
Prevent food poisoning and take the food handler certification class. On successful completion of the course you will receive a provincially recognized certificate. When displayed, it will tell your customers that you run a clean and safe establishment.

Course Description
- The food safety course will provide you with an understanding in the following areas:
- The role of micro-organisms in foodborne illness.
- Prevention of foodborne illness.
- Implementing the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) principles including:
| Proper control of food temperature. | Safe food handling and storage. | Need for good personal hygiene. |
| Handling customer food allergies. | Healthy eating and food service. | Sanitation and maintenance of a food premise |
| Compliance with Ontario Food Premise Regulation 562/90. |
Cost is $42 and includes: course materials, a probe thermometer, and the examination fee.

- Return the form with payment to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. Form may be returned by mail or in person.
